Officer Jake Hennessey, 28, joined the Plymouth Township Police Department in September 2023. On Friday, October 24th, Officer Hennessey sustained critical injuries — including compound fractures to multiple bones in his leg and clavicle, contusions to his lung, a broken rib, and severe injuries to the crucial ligaments of his knee — after attempting to stop a subject in the parking lot of the DoubleTree Hotel. When the suspect ignored verbal commands, he used his vehicle as a weapon and struck Officer Hennessey multiple times. Jake’s quick thinking and the rapid response of fellow officers ultimately saved his life — and his leg.

At the time of the incident, Officer Hennessey was just one week away from marrying his fiancée, Meghan. What was meant to be a week filled with joy and celebration instead became one filled with surgeries and difficult conversations about Jake’s recovery.
Determined to honor their commitment, Jake was discharged in time for the two to exchange vows on their planned wedding date, surrounded by close family at Meghan’s parents’ home. They have postponed their original wedding plans until an undetermined date, when Jake’s knee is healed.
Now home, Jake faces many challenges ahead. He requires daily assistance from Meghan and his family to manage pain, attend medical appointments, and prepare for future surgeries to reconstruct his knee.
Both Jake and Meghan will be out of work for the foreseeable future as they focus on recovery.
Your generosity and support will help ease the financial and emotional burdens they face in the coming months.
